Bauknight Toy chest – bench
This piece of Furniture was built for Mark and Stacey Bauknight as a dual purpose piece. It is both a bench and a toy chest. The New York apartment where they lived at the time was short on space so the dual capability served them well. It is made out of maple and zebrawood with an ultrasuede cushion tied to the top. It is finished in clear polyurethane. I appreciate their willingness to go with the clear urethane and wax finish. This affords it some protection while allowing the wood to be seen for what it really is. The images show the process of taking raw lumber from the milling and dimensioning phase to the joining phase and finally to the finishing phase.
